Are you overweight? Eating too much food? Maybe you think you are unattractive? Perhaps you feel uncomfortable in your clothes or insecure about your image? Feeling under pressure to have the perfect body? 68% are concerned about our fitness levels, our waist size and our personal happiness.
'There is evidence from several studies that its [hypnosis'] inclusion in a weight reduction program may significantly enhance outcome.' (BPS, 'The Nature of Hypnosis', 2001)
We need food to live but it also gives us pleasure, in an age where we seem to be leading increasingly sedentary lifestyles and lethargy caused by lack of exercise and a UK passion for fast food, many people eat too much as a source of comfort, a response to stress or to alleviate boredom, or as a substitute for any unmet emotional needs. If your reading this then you probably know how you're feeling about the way you look and what you would like your desired weight to be, more importantly what you intend to do about it ... weight related problems cost the UK around 30,000 deaths each year. It'll soon overtake smoking as the UK's biggest killer. The NHS spends £500 million each year just on weight-related health problems. More than half the adults in the UK are heavier than recommended. About 2 in 5 adults are overweight, about a further 1 in 5 are clinically obese. Interesting to know that any one time, a half of all women and a quarter of all men are trying to lose weight.
Most of the clients who come to see me for weight management are frustrated having already tried the numerous diets on the market that are prevalent, especially every New Year. Did you also know that people in the UK spend around £335 million on diet products alone? Many people who lose weight soon put it back on when they stop their weight reducing diet as dieting tends to focus on deprivation, what foods you can't have rather than focussing on the way you think about and relate to food, this often develops into an unhealthy and negative relationship with food and this can lead to feelings of inadequacy, failure and depression. The main reason that this happens is that the diet was only a temporary effort to stop unhealthy foods and the old patterns of behaviour re-emerge. Diets don’t give you lasting change, just temporary results.
Dieting failures impact on how we see ourselves in the way we look and our perception of how other people view us. Being overweight can adversely affect our emotions be it our belief about our body image, our self-esteem and confidence and may also lead to anxiety and depression, lack of sleep, tiredness, feelings of inadequacy and failure. To keep the weight off, it is vital to have a permanent change in your attitudes, habits and your lifestyle and this is why hypnotherapy is so effective for permanent weight loss as it deals directly with replacing old habits and attitudes. Your quality of life is improved when you lose weight and you are less likely to develop diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart problems, some types of cancer, arthritis of the back and legs, gallstones, menstrual problems, incontinence, breathing problems, liver disease, depression and you live by as much as 25% longer.
Being overweight starts in the mind and once the mind is healthy then a slimmer body will follow.
I help you to permanently change how you think about food, your attitude and relationship to food.
Many of you may share the same goal to lose weight, for example, each will be experiencing it in a different way. One may eat in certain emotional or physical situations such as feeling stress, after an argument or just to feel better through comfort eating so therapy sessions are tailored to each person using individualized methods and techniques.
We all know that to lose weight you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat the right kind of foods that give your body nutrients and do regular exercise. I explain how the mind works and we will work together to set realistic and achievable goals. Hypnotherapy enables direct access to the subconscious mind, to enable a change to your old eating habits and behaviours and to resolve any underlying emotional reasons for over-eating.
You will no longer want to snack on the incorrect foods or finish everything on your plate even when you are not feeling particularly hungry. Need help cutting out those cakes, crisps, chocolates or biscuits? Hypnotherapy is a behavioural approach to weight control that allows you to enjoy eating healthily and lose weight in a safe and natural way by replacing negative food habits with positive food habits whilst freeing you from the concept of dieting.
