Many people with start with ‘feeling low’ that can lead to depression and can go through life without seeking help at all, believing that depression is just 'part of them', but in truth, depression is very treatable. People with depression often feel that they are 'alone'
However, depression is now recognised as one of the most common and devastating disorders in the UK. It is estimated that around 1 in 4 people suffer from a depressive episode in their lifetime. More than 31 million prescriptions for drugs for depression were issued in 2006, which increased by 10% from 14.7m to 16.2m and this figure continues to rise.

The British Psychological Society reported:' There is evidence from several studies that its [hypnosis'] inclusion in a weight reduction program may significantly enhance outcome.' (BPS, 'The Nature of Hypnosis', 2001)

The New Scientist has reported on a recent study by the University of Iowa covering 72,000 smokers/ ex-smokers from America and Europe. It concluded that hypnosis was the most effective way to give up smoking.

Nearly nine years ago The Which? Report concluded that of all the methods available for stopping smoking, Hypnotherapy was the most successful, and the only one with no cravings, no irritability, no bad temper and no weight gain.

However, a smoker will have years of information built up in his or her memory store, such as 'I am a smoker'. 'I can't stop smoking', 'I have to smoke to alleviate stress', and ‘it gives me confidence'. These are subconscious responses and we know the subconscious has been faultily programmed.

M.E. and Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia has and M.E can pose a negative impact on the quality of your life and it requires learning how to manage it to accomplish the necessary adjustments in your work, family and social life. Imagine being able to change that?

A study conducted by the NIH showed that fibromyalgia sufferers undergoing hypnosis reported 80% fewer pain symptoms than those who received no hypnosis treatment. 40 patients with refractory fibromyalgia were randomly allocated to treatment with either hypnotherapy or physical therapy for 12 weeks with follow up at 24 weeks. Compared with the patients in the physical therapy group, the patients in the hypnotherapy group showed a significantly better outcome. Pain is a learned response that can be changed by distraction and a review of focus. This is why hypnotherapy is becoming an increasing choice in utilising methods of focused
hypnotic analgesia (pain control).
